Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is announcing two important actions that will help the agricultural sector protect crops from pests and weeds. Under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), EPA is approving the use of 10 pesticide products on hemp in time for the 2020 growing season. Nine of these products are biopesticides and one is a conventional pesticide. EPA is also issuing a proposed interim decision on atrazine — a widely used herbicide. The USEPA has released its final rule on Risk Management Program (RMP) regulations. In adopting these regulations, USEPA eliminated some of the proposed regulations which were burdensome, unnecessary, and costly, concerning safer technologies, alternative analysis, third party audits, and facility chemical hazard information regulatory requirements. Elimination of these provisions will save industry tens of millions of dollars while having no adverse impact on safety. According to the Agricultural Retailers Association, these changes “promote better emergency planning and public information about accidents while resulting in significant cost savings for RMP-regulated facilities.”...

A series of regional meetings in 2019 are giving Kansans the opportunity to help shape the future of transportation in Kansas. These Local Consult meetings will inform the state's next Long Range Transportation Plan, the planning document that will guide investments from 2020 to 2045.
