KARA Mourns the Passing of Former Board Member Ken Novak

Kenneth R. Novak, 79, passed away August 8, 2026, at his residence. He was born February 24, 1947, in Hillsboro, Kansas. He was the son of Alvin and Irene (Medley) Novak. He was a 1965 graduate of Tampa High School.

Novak was on the Kansas Agribusiness Retailers Association board of directors from 1998-2003 and was instrumental in starting and maintaining enthusiasm for our sporting clay trapshoot at the Kansas Agri Business Expo. KARA awarded him its Distinguished Service Award in 2022. He worked for Farmland and Midwest Fertilizer and was a steadfast supporter of the association for more than 35 years.

He attended Emporia State University. He proudly served with the United States Army. He was a fertilizer dealer, farmer and stockman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Rikki Novak Doll. He is survived by his wife Tudy Novak of Tampa; his son, Scott Novak (Leann Southard) of Lawrence; his siblings: Judy Stika of Lincolnville and Kelly (Dianne) Novak of Tampa; step-daughters: Wendy (Justin) Youk of Marion; Amy (Tim) Richmond of Marion; and Paige Brunner (Jeff Mayfield) of Marion. Grandchildren: Tyler Anderson, Tanner Anderson, Ava Novak, Cameron White and Preston Schneider.

All Services were held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the Tampa Catholic Church.
