Eric Hanson spent the first 9 years of his career as a Crop Consultant in SW Kansas before moving to Michigan to become a retail agronomist for a large Cooperative for 3 years. He was hired by Land O’Lakes in 2008 as a first a partnered Croplan Genetics DSM, before moving back to Kansas as part of their Agronomy Production Specialist program. From there he progressed to a role as a WinField Seed and Agronomy Advisor before being selected as Regional Agronomist in 2013. Eric is now an agronomist working as a Market Development Specialist in Kansas.

Role of Adjuvants

There are many different options when selecting adjuvants. The goal of this presentation is to sort out the different types of adjuvants, what specific job they do, and how to select the right type of adjuvant based on the pesticide to be applied, weather conditions and weed spectrum.

Understanding the Fundamentals of Resistance Management in Insect and Mite Pests

Raymond will discuss the concepts of resistance and how resistance develops in insect and mite pest populations. He will then address resistance management strategies that can be implemented to delay resistance developing in insect and mite pest populations to insecticides and miticides.
Dr. Raymond A. Cloyd has an extension and research appointment at KSU. His research and extension program involved pest management/plant protection in greenhouses, nurseries, landscapes, turfgrass, conservatories, interiorscapes, Christmas trees, and vegetables and fruits. Dr. Cloyd is an extension specialist in horticultural entomology for the state of Kansas with a major clientele that includes homeowners, master gardeners, and professional and commercial operators. He has a Ph.D. in Entomology from Purdue University.

Fungicides have played a key role in reducing yield loss from impactful diseases while also promoting plant health benefits for our crops. With many options available on the market, it is important to understand what the components of a fungicide and what benefits they can offer to a crop.
Morgan Schmidt currently supports the Syngenta Crop Protection sales team as an Agronomic Service Representative. She was raised on a family farm in North Central Kansas where her interest in agriculture developed. She graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Agronomy. Morgan started her career at Monsanto then transitioned to Bayer in agronomist and sales support roles for the seed and crop protection teams prior to transitioning to Syngenta.
