The presentation will cover how nozzles, adjuvants and conditions affect droplet size and interactions with the leaf surface.
Eric Hanson spent the first 9 years of his career as a Crop Consultant in SW Kansas before moving to Michigan to become a retail agronomist for a large Cooperative for 3 years. He was hired by Land O’Lakes in 2008 as a first a partnered Croplan Genetics DSM, before moving back to Kansas as part of their Agronomy Production Specialist program. From there he progressed to a role as a WinField Seed and Agronomy Advisor before being selected as Regional Agronomist in 2013. Eric is now an agronomist working as a Market Development Specialist in Kansas.

This training is a discussion on herbicide site of action and herbicide applications under varying conditions.
Katie Strathman is the Technical Service Representative in eastern and central Kansas for BASF. Prior to her current role, Katie worked for BASF at the BASF Midwest research farm in Seymour, IL where she oversaw the technical marketing research trials. Katie holds two degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy-Farm Business Management with a minor in entomology and a Master of Science in Agronomy-Crop Production & Physiology, both from Iowa State University. Having grown up on a corn and soybean farm in northwest Iowa, Katie has roots in agriculture. She currently resides in northeast Kansas where, when her schedule permits, she is also a stand-in farmhand for her husband and his family.

Abstract: Glufosinate (Liberty, others) has become a key herbicide for postemergence weed control in soybeans and cotton. This presentation will include data-based discussions as well as demonstrations of some key factors influencing the efficacy of glufosinate applications including nozzle selection, application volume, weed density and environmental conditions.
Sarah Lancaster, PhD is an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist at the KSU Agronomy Department. She was raised on an integrated crop and livestock farm in east central Missouri and holds degrees from University of Missouri, North Carolina State University, and Texas A&M University.

Each year, Kansas crops face infection by numerous fungal, bacterial, and viral diseases. Accurate identification is essential for effective control. This session will discuss identification of key foliar/floral diseases of primary Kansas crops as well as considerations for effective fungicide applications.
Logan Simon is an Assistant Professor and Southwest Area Agronomist based at the Kansas State University Southwest Research-Extension Center near Garden City, KS and serves the 26 counties of southwestern Kansas. Research focuses include cropping systems management in primary dryland and irrigated crops (wheat, sorghum, corn, cotton, soybeans, sunflowers, canola, and alfalfa) to sustain economic growth in the region despite limited or diminishing water resources.

Logan Simon grew up on a diversified crop/livestock farm in Adams County, Illinois 15 miles east of the banks of the Mississippi River, but traveled state-wide as an active member of the Illinois Association FFA (2014 American FFA Degree Recipient). He received his B.S. in Plant Science (2017) from the University of Missouri and his M.S. (2021) and PhD. (2024) in Agronomy from Kansas State University. Dr. Simon joined Kansas State University as an Assistant Professor and Southwest Area Agronomist in 2024. In his extension role, he serves 26 counties in southwest and south central Kansas. Dr. Simon’s applied research program focuses on dryland and limit-irrigated cropping systems for increasing regional productivity, water use efficiency, economic vitality, and environmental sustainability.
